[Q] How can I crop PDF’s and export the cropped file? | Apple iPad Forum.Top 5 Free Apps Similar to PDF Expert for iPad

I’m very glad I made the choice to acquire the app and its pro features however. Its the only app that actually lets to modify and work with or create pdf documents with all their features like hyperlinks – which was my key interest for note taking. The app has a simple and hands on interface and works very well for me.
My key uses for it are for organizing information ive collected from other sources and class notes, hyperlinking between my notes to improve my studies and learning, as well as, when possible with the pdfs I use, edit the pdf file itself to select elements to keep. While screenshots are wonderful and useful, and incorporating them into note apps are easy and useful, when working with pdfs, being able to use the image quality and format of the pdf books i own allows me to work with the content as is, rather than an image of it, which really appeals to me.
I had a few issues with my acquisition with regards to its update to version 7, and through this learned how attentive and thoughtful Readdle is to their user base, including new users. They made me feel like they really wanted me to make the best use of their software and feel like it should have a place in my workflow.
I’m grateful to the quick responses and attention to my needs and uses. And talk about customer service! If only all companies had their finesse! On the next update lilac was there! Now, of course, there are plenty of color options. So impressed.
With every update PDF Expert only gets better. Bravo to the Readdle team! Congratulations on many excellent products backed by a superior customer experience! Given the multiple advantages associated with the app, users stand a chance to obtain complete control over the creation of a document in PDF and share the same with their friends, colleagues, or anyone using e-mail or print using cloud services.
In comparison to other applications, this amazing Gives powerful and unique and yet free ConnectedPDF, which is a breakthrough in technology that brings new levels of collaboration, accountability, and productivity. With the help of the app, users can open PDF files directly on their device from email, Safari, and iTunes. The application also allows the user to edit and organize PDF files.
They can unzip files, rename, copy, or even delete documents directly. The ConnectedPDF technology enables the working-class community to work with protected cPDFs, participate in connected reviews, and track who views the document or edits the same.
With the help of the application, users have the possibility to highlight text within a PDF document, insert text and stamps, signed PDFs, and even manipulate pages within a document. The app not only helps in the reduction of paper usage but also helps in improving the productivity of the work.
With the support of the application, users receive smooth and responsive reading features, vertical scrolling for efficient scrolling through an entire PDF file, the ability to open multiple tabs, and the multipurpose sidebar that allows skimming through the document with ease. In other words, no matter what your office uses, you can probably sync your documents in the app.
Readdle has also created a secure and fast way to transfer PDFs from your iPad to your Mac and vice versa when both devices are connected to the same local network. Enter the code into the site on your Mac and watch as your Mac and iPad instantly connect to one another.
Opening PDFs on the Mac is lightning quick and can be viewed right in the browser, or can be downloaded locally to your Mac. The app also allows you to enable iOS Data Protection file-encryption system. These are great options that help keep access to your cloud storage secure but easily accessible to you. Foxit has stormed onto the iPad in recent memory after hitting its stride on Windows.
Foxit has great design taste, a strong set of tools in its free tier, and a reasonable annual subscription for editing, organizing, and filling and signing forms. Commenting tools — which oddly includes highlighting, underlining, comment boxes, and more — are diverse and customizable. Second, signatures are super finicky in Foxit as of the time of writing. You can create and save multiple signatures, however placing and resizing and reshaping signatures is super frustrating.
This could be a bug, or even something related to the iPadOS 15 public beta. But if signatures are fundamental to your PDF work, this may give you pause. Apple Pencil support is present and totally workable, however some interesting UX choices here have it feeling awkward.
The Pencil performs dual usage based on how long you tap. PDF Expert handles this by making all finger-based gestures navigational and all Apple Pencil taps and gestures as annotations. Fillable PDFs work well inside Foxit.
All fillable fields are highlighted in blue, just like they are in PDF Expert. Filling in fields is quick and you can use the included bar above the keyboard to jump between fields with ease. Searching an OCRed PDF is a breeze inside Foxit, as search results show up in a sidebar after you perform your search query and you can tap between the results in the sidebar.
Search was fast, efficient, and spot on, every time. Tapping on any text box on a PDF provides you an editing box which closely matches the font as you change the content in the PDF.
Tapping on the four box grid button in the top right brings you to a thumbnail view where you can move pages around and reorganize the PDF. It took us about 15 minutes of tapping around to discover if the feature existed. PDF Expert simply provides more tools for free and has better stability and performance across the app.
This helps PDFpen feel much more native to the iPad than other options we tested. There is a standard set of items like those found in other apps: comments, text, arrows, boxes, lines, and camera roll.
There is also a massive set of proofing markup icons for proofreading documents and there are a range of great stamps for processing documentation for office workflows. As noted above, the list of PDF apps we tested for this review was extensive. Here is a quick summary of our findings for each app.
However, where iAnnotate 4 falls short is in design and organization. The app has extra small touch targets scattered throughout, specifically in the right tool sidebar. At best, the app is a PDF reader right now, with an exorbitantly expensive subscription that hides the ability to merge PDFs. Acrobat does have Liquid Mode though, which is great for reading and jumping around a PDF when researching. On the left side, you can see an outline of the document and you can scroll through the document with your thumb.
Liquid Mode highlights exactly what Acrobat is good for: reading and previewing, but nothing more. GoodReader has strong Apple Pencil support, with some of the best handwriting features of any app tested here. The Apple Pencil sensitivity is a little on the sensitive side and there are numerous extra taps to delete, undo, or change an Apple Pencil annotation.
All Books features are baked right into the share sheet, making importing into Books a breeze. Where Books falls short is, among other things, its markup tools. PDF Pro 4 has a lot going for it once you get past the measly one-day free trial. If you do opt to pay for PDF Pro 4 though, the app has some solid features.

Hi all, I’ve been searching for awhile and have been unable to find an answer, so my apologies if this has been answered already. I have some scanned pdf text documents that contain large black margins that I am trying to remove before printing.
So far, it seems that GoodReader is the only one that really lets me even crop the file. Any help is greatly appreciated. Well, it is just a single page or two, just get it full screen on the device, pinch to zoom as you like, then do a screen capture. You will see the screen flash to a bright write when the capture is done.
Then look in your Photos app and find the image as a pic, not a PDF. YOu can then print that or email it.
I’m sure you can find a way to make it into a PDF too. It’s several multi-page documents, so taking a screenshot of each page is not really a practical solution. Do you have any other suggestions? I’ve included 2 screenshots from GoodReader as examples. For the first, the icon you need is at the bottom of the screen and to the left of the icon that looks like an open book.
The second screenshot shows the switch at the top left in the on position indicating that all pages will be cropped at the same time. You can export your document in “Manage Files. Last edited: Jul 28, Asharp said:. Very nice. I should have figured that GoodReader could do it. It is quite simple too! I had previously tried this method and couldn’t get it to work. Goodreader allows you to annotate a PDF and flatten those annotations through exporting so that the changes are displayed on other devices.
For cropping, though, Goodreader treats the feature as a iPad readability enhancement rather than a document editing tool, so the crops are not flattened into the exported document. I’m on a work computer that prevents me from installing software, so iPad is my only choice. I deal with a lot of scanned PDF’s, and I am looking for something that will let me crop the PDF on my iPad, export the cropped document, and then be able to view those changes on my work computer.

I share your pain about Goodreader and every other PDF app I own – the cropping is only for viewing and cannot be saved after cropping. So, maybe this one will do it for you? I might be a good idea to write to Goodreader and request a true crop. They are very responsive. I asked for sky drive support a few months ago and now it is there.
